Spooky Halloween

Tonight we celebrated Halloween spooky style. Gillian is a scary Bat- erina and Aidan was a Grim Reaper. We had a blast with a gang from the school. Gillian was able to hang with Emma, Sophie and Sarah and Aidan hung with Sean. To make it even better, I was given a glass of wine for a treat at a friends house! Happy Halloween......

This years pumpkins

I always enjoy Halloween, especially the pumpkin carving. It's fun to see what faces the kids will want me to carve. The happy pumpkin and the small goofy toothed ones are Aidan's designs. The vampire ( with bloody teeth not visible in the picture) and surprised faces are care of Gillian. Now if the pumpkin seeds in the oven would just be done, the night would be complete!

Happy Halloween

The Nike Plus Human Race

So Saturday was the yearly Nike Plus 10K Human Race. They encourage all around the world to run a 10K on that day and then tally up all the miles logged that day. Pretty empowering when you think about it. I just checked the final count and a total of 792,128 miles were logged. Pretty impressive. I did my 10K to contribute and am feeling the pain today. I hadn't run in a few weeks with all the illness going through the house but still managed to rally for it. Did it in 1:04. A little slower than I wanted but still good I think. Today, I will do the stationary bike to hopefully loosen up my legs. Later!

It's been a while

Well I haven't posted in a while since I haven't felt like a had a moment to myself...until now. The past few weeks have been filled with long work days, sick kids and hubby with stomach flu, a weekend of call at work and ultimately stomach flu for myself. Started feeling human again on Wednesday but then was getting ready for my son's 5th birthday party. It was a blast. He decided on a party at Jump Planet in Bothell. It included kids from his Kindergarten class and friends from his old preschool, cousins and a few friends of Gillian's from school and family friends. I have to say I enjoyed jumping around and sliding as much as the next person. I was even made of member of Aidan's special gang (secret handshake with all the boys and all). Aly (my nanny)'s nephew Carl even gave me an imaginary pink gun since I was named the leader and we went on special missions and took pictures of people with out top secret (imaginary) camera's. Headed up the party room later for pizza, snacks and veggies. Yum.

Aidan requested a race track cake so here it is. It actually turned out great!

Tomorrow we'll finish up with presents from his Aunt and Uncle, Grandma & Grandpa, Nanny & Poppa and our presents since tonight was all about his friends.

We were also lucky enough to have our previous nanny Emily come over for a visit with her husband Scott. They brought along their new addition, Smalls. Gillian and Grace loved him!

Well off to bed as I am supposed to be going for a run tomorrow. Seems like forever.

I just discovered that...

running to classical music is very relaxing. I went out for a nice 3 mile run yesterday and hit shuffle on my iPhone as I usually do. Instead of the usual rock and power songs, to my surprise it played a run of classical songs. Funny the visions one gets when listening to classical music. I kept envisioning Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd! But, with the great music, wonderful fall colors on the trees in the afternoon sun and the smell of clean, crisp air, it truly was a beautiful run. Fall has arrived!

Sunny Sundays

What a perfect fall day outside. I went out to clean up the raspberries today. Got it all done in 2.5 hours. Other than getting whipped in the face with stray branches now and then, I did managed to find a handful of fresh raspberries if you can believe it! They were amazing. Hard to believe it's  October! I'm sure one more week and the fall weather will be here.

I love Saturdays

If I'm not working at the clinic, it starts by sleeping in until 7:45am, then I get Gillian up to get ready for swim lessons. Aidan won't start until November. While she's swimming I get to exercise at the Y. Today, cycling for 25min while reading a magazine and listening to music...me likey! Then home to garden. I managed to get 8 raised beds weeded, and picked a bunch of veggies in the 4 hours I was out there. This is what makes it all worth it! What do you think?
